Music Hall

Fun S2 opener at one of the most overlooked shows of the year.

Whole show is an underrated gem, and this is no exception.

One of the fastest I've heard!

Cold Rain and Snow
Nov. 13, 1972
Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall

Great opener at perhaps the most underrated show of the year, at least based upon the ratings here...I have it as a Top 25 show of '72.

Box of Rain
Nov. 13, 1972
Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall

I think November '72 was the best period for this song, and this one is no exception. Phil crushes the ending.

Good Lovin'
April 11, 1972
Newcastle City Hall

Crazy that this is still wallowing in the single-digits! Not the shot-out-of-a-psychedelic-cannon intensity of 4/8, but it's very smooth and sophisticated...
Brown Eyed Women
April 11, 1972
Newcastle City Hall

Love the faster pace of this one!
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
April 11, 1972
Newcastle City Hall

At one point during the transition, Jerry and Phil lock into this thing that sounds like a swarm of bees attacking you in the Martian desert...fantastic stuff.
Deal
April 2, 1973
Boston Garden

Maybe it's because the first "Deal" I heard was 4/8/72, but I love these early versions just as much as the later ones. Similar to "Sugaree," these concise early arrangements allow you to focus more on Hunter's lyrics...depends what you're in the mood for!

Very fiery solo!
