It Must Have Been The Roses

In addition to the great playing throughout this first set, you can grin at the several musical references to the Derby that the boys threw in.

Light first half of a titanic encore. The anniversary's coming up, might as well give the show a listen...

I know most folks are indifferent re this song, but this type of mid-tempo bouncing shuffle is one of the things I love most about this band.

Another great version from this fantastic night.

Wanted to make a more substantive comment. Came to this show via my old Dick's Picks 2 (one that, for me, never gets old and that I love more each time I hear it). I checked out the Road Trips version because I had heard iffy things about the AUD that's on the archive; I love a good audience recording, but it's an issue of volume for me personally. The official release sounds *fantastic*—this is choice Dead from a prime time in their development, with the sort of full-band interplay that removes you from your own body. Truly top notch music; stuff like this is why I spend so much time listening to this band.

This it totally a personal preference, but I'm not usually a big Pig fan. I'm also just now starting to hear how much Jerry's playing is inspired by Pig's raps rhythmically, though, and it's a wild time.

Seriously. They take this out for a walk!
