Me and My Uncle
Feb. 15, 1973
Dane County Coliseum

Bobby sings the hell out of this one. I know we've all heard dozens of these, but this one had that little bit extra that throws it over the top.

Looks Like Rain
Feb. 15, 1973
Dane County Coliseum

This song usually doesn't do it for me, but this is quite pretty. The SBD cuts out mid-solo, but it's a minor problem.

Brown Eyed Women
Feb. 15, 1973
Dane County Coliseum

Jerry flubs some lyrics, but I liked the solo. Hints at the promise later to come in this well-known show.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
July 28, 1973
Grand Prix Racecourse

The surviving tape has some issues, but this is a powerful version.

Big Railroad Blues
Aug. 26, 1971
Gaelic Park

I don't know who was recording these, but Phil sounds incredible. The quality of the performance reminds me of what I love about those long Europe '72 sets when they're just playing every part of everything really well.
Playin' In The Band
Aug. 26, 1971
Gaelic Park

Phil! Also neat for the early version (?) of the lyrics.
Sugaree
Aug. 14, 1971
Berkeley Community Theater

The thing that strikes me most about this recording is just how *great* everything sounds, Jerry and Phil's tone quality in particular. It's like they're playing in my living room.
Bird Song
Nov. 17, 1972
Century II Convention Hall

I think phayden makes a good point– the jams in Bird Song are often rather Dark Star-like, and I doubt they needed another song with jam potential in this same key (PITB, Rider, Bird Song, Dew, etc.). I'm guessing something similar happened with Here Comes Sunshine, but speak up if it was something else.
Dark Star
June 10, 1973
RFK Stadium

This is one of those serious Stars that'll put the zap on your brain in the right state.
