1970 was a great year for NFA and this version smokes.

This song expresses something deep about the band, and this is a great version.

Not Fade Away

I usually don't go for the slower ones, but the band is on fire and Garcia's got a bone in his teeth.

Oh no question, but it's nice that it has some company!

cgarces, you might like this one. I know you don't avoid the later ones and appreciate a nice S>F. I've read that some consider this the last great show, and there is def. some X factor here. Also a few weeks before another great version I think you know, and I believe this one hits a similar vein.

Jam of the Week so I gave it a spin. This is a pretty decent version, cgarces, you should give this a listen!
Cumberland Blues
Sept. 27, 1972
Stanley Theatre

The > out of the DS is really cool. Billy and Phil are there while Jerry and Bobby are still returning to earth, and after some vamping, the thing takes off and cooks. Never heard a Cumberland quite like this one.
Dark Star
Sept. 27, 1972
Stanley Theatre

Goes off the rails quickly. Dark, brooding, intense jamming. Forgot they hadn't even played the first verse in that long excursion. Top notch stuff.
