It Must Have Been The Roses
June 18, 1974
Freedom Hall

In addition to the great playing throughout this first set, you can grin at the several musical references to the Derby that the boys threw in.

Light first half of a titanic encore. The anniversary's coming up, might as well give the show a listen...

Slow but mighty.

I know most folks are indifferent re this song, but this type of mid-tempo bouncing shuffle is one of the things I love most about this band.

Another great version from this fantastic night.

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
June 19, 1994
Autzen Stadium, U. of Oregon

Honestly wasn't expecting much from this version, but heard about it somewhere and decided to check it out. Short "Scarlet," the highlight (for me) was the acoustic guitar sound Garcia. "Fire" is nice and bouncy. Worth a listen.
Eyes Of The World
Nov. 11, 1973
Winterland Arena

There is some really great playing here from every member separately and together. Agree about lyrics (Jerry blowing both lyrics and the guitar part in the preceding "Dark Star"—he also sounded *super* high when he was singing, so...). Still a great version, and the show is justly famous for many reasons.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
March 31, 1984
Marin County Civic Center

This is *really* great. Fantastic find! The entire band plays as one this whole time.
Foolish Heart

The Omni

It's got my vote too. Gotta go through the rest of this show later!
Let It Grow

The Omni

Great version! I'd have to really think before I could think of a headier one!!
