It Must Have Been The Roses
June 18, 1974
Freedom Hall

In addition to the great playing throughout this first set, you can grin at the several musical references to the Derby that the boys threw in.

Sugar Magnolia

Freedom Hall

Light first half of a titanic encore. The anniversary's coming up, might as well give the show a listen...

Slow but mighty.

I know most folks are indifferent re this song, but this type of mid-tempo bouncing shuffle is one of the things I love most about this band.

Another great version from this fantastic night.

Friend of the Devil
June 24, 1970
Capitol Theatre

Worth an up vote for the stage banter that follows, much less the music.
Me and My Uncle
June 24, 1970
Capitol Theatre

Listen with the NRPS set in between the early and late Dead sets for full psychedelic cowboy effect.
Not Fade Away
June 24, 1970
Capitol Theatre

Wanted to add another comment. This has some great moments in the NFA material itself, and also in the "Mountain Jam"-style section that follows. After that, Garcia rips off riffs that sound like the belong to the transitions of those stellar '72 –> Riders. If you like good Jerry, give it a spin.
Easy Wind
June 24, 1970
Capitol Theatre

This set is justifiably well known for the massive sequence that follows this tune, but the NFA>Wind is also top shelf. Worth a dust-off if it's been a while.

Yes yes yes. You really hear Jerry searching for something with this one.
