This song expresses something deep about the band, and this is a great version.

I usually don't go for the slower ones, but the band is on fire and Garcia's got a bone in his teeth.

Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower

trippy and groovy intro noodling into song. Jerry flubs some verses, but at least gets the melody. short. Things seem to almost fall apart during the intro material for “Slipknot,” but they vamp the final figure of the transition into a dark solo from Jerry based loosely on the melody. Very nice “Slipknot” jam. Repeated phrase changes groove, accelerates, lessens before swirling patterns and move to “Franklin’s.” Dark chords at the start of the final tune (Brent?). Weird sound effects from Bobby briefly. Lyrical mumble actually pretty funny. Billy nice and loose. Nice gentle let down at end.

hell yes man, you've already done most of the hard work for me! One of the things that gives this year that color you mention is that Jerry often clips familiar leads and patterns off at the minor third (not going up the to major), or even sometimes playing something that sounds microtonal, or playing in a minor key over the band's major.

Grendel, this has some of the colors and rhythms I think we both enjoy in a variety of our similar picks. Check out the whole sequence.

Whoa, sick find!! so much in this one. This is one of the most interesting and different S>Fs I've ever heard. All the regulars need to check into this one.

Whoa! That intro is some sick stuff!! I saw that you've been on an '84 kick lately, I think I'm gonna follow. Killer vocal jam too! This show is now my to-do list tomorrow.
