Truckin'
Nov. 14, 1972
Oklahoma City Music Hall

Just when it seems like they've decided on O1 as the jam vehicle of choice, they suddenly switch to a great Truckin'.

Next Time You See Me
March 25, 1972
Academy of Music

Nice extended jam on this one, with Pig driving the band to new heights.

Turn On Your Love Light
March 25, 1972
Academy of Music

Pig takes the wheel on a wild ride through the funk dimension. "I know you got it hid away someplace, 'cuz I've been there before."

Uncle John's Band
March 22, 1972
Academy of Music

Sugar Magnolia->Caution->Uncle John's Band is a very cool sequence, kind of a preview of the Europe 72 jams.

Chinatown Shuffle
Jan. 2, 1972
Winterland Arena

One of the earliest Shuffles, and it's a good one. Pig sings some lyrics differently, and I dig the organ/piano combo.

Black Throated Wind
April 8, 1972
Wembley Empire Pool

This excellent BTW was indeed followed by "Next Time You See Me." The version of "Sitting On Top Of The World" that appears on Steppin' Out is actually from 5/23/72.
Eyes Of The World
June 16, 1974
Iowa State Fairgrounds

The outro jam in this one is sloppy compared to 6/18, but the transition into Big River is unique, and a very cool example of the Dead's improvisational skills. To me, it sounds like Jerry accidentally (or maybe purposely?) changes to the wrong key, and the band decides to roll with it rather than returning to the Eyes jam.
Greatest Story Ever Told
Sept. 28, 1972
Stanley Theatre

This version contains some of Jerry's finest wah-wah phrasing and tone. "You can't close the door when the wall's caved in." Yeah, pretty much.
The Other One
Sept. 17, 1972
Baltimore Civic Center

Too Much, man! Like, whoa.
Bird Song
Sept. 17, 1972
Baltimore Civic Center

It's very close, but this one edges out 8/27 for me.
