Oklahoma City Music Hall

Just when it seems like they've decided on O1 as the jam vehicle of choice, they suddenly switch to a great Truckin'.

Nice extended jam on this one, with Pig driving the band to new heights.

Turn On Your Love Light
March 25, 1972

Pig takes the wheel on a wild ride through the funk dimension. "I know you got it hid away someplace, 'cuz I've been there before."

Uncle John's Band

Academy of Music

Sugar Magnolia->Caution->Uncle John's Band is a very cool sequence, kind of a preview of the Europe 72 jams.

Chinatown Shuffle

One of the earliest Shuffles, and it's a good one. Pig sings some lyrics differently, and I dig the organ/piano combo.

Playin' In The Band
Sept. 28, 1972
Stanley Theatre

The best of the September '72 Playins IMO. Great work from every band member, and a long, interesting jam full of peaks and valleys. I especially love the way Jerry unleashes a final burst of energy to carry the jam back home.
Friend of the Devil
Sept. 27, 1972
Stanley Theatre

They hit the perfect swing and dynamic shifts on this one.
Bird Song

Stanley Theatre

9/17 was my favorite from September, but I think I like this one even better.
El Paso
Sept. 28, 1972
Stanley Theatre

This is my favorite September '72 version. Vocals are a little low, but Phil is up front and riffing hard.
Bertha
Sept. 23, 1972
Palace Theater

I really like the solo on this one- reminds me of the Allmans.
