Great end to a great 4 night run, 2 MSG and the 2 Nassau shows. Being the first Casey Jones I saw live makes it special to me, but it smokes. Give i

Red Rocks Amphitheatre

The most agressive Garcia vocals, matched by his playing, top 10 easy, don't know why it wasn't on the list

Great interplay between Bobby and Jerry. Well jammed out and then the Jerry / Billy solo jam at the end is fabulous. Surprised it is not on the list.

Let It Grow
Sept. 2, 1979
Augusta Civic Center

The first Brent version, (my first one as well) is astonishing, took us all by surprise coming out of Terrapin Station. The only time of 44 Let it Grows’ that I saw live, that it was played in the second set, it was a treat when it was played before drums, 9/19/90 comes to mind along with this version, which is very tight, considering it hasn’t been played since the spring of ’78. They nail all the transitions and after a fanning flurry by Garcia @ the 8:00 minute mark, Brent jumps in with an amazing organ solo, wow the new guy steps up and then they are off for another 16 minutes of jamming. There is a harsh cut in the SBD, (aren’t they all) so make sure you listen to the Charlie Miller_Rob Eaton SBD with the audience splice. The minute or so is needed to keep the jam theme intact. Everything winds down at about 15:30, Phil lets loose a few blasts, then it gets kind of wild and trippy, almost a Garcia Tiger moment. Very cool spacial jam with Jerry and the drummers, Brent still adds a little. Clocking in at over 22-minutes with the jam, it is the longest version I ever saw live and worth your time, give it a listen.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Dec. 1, 1979
Stanley Theater

A very nice version from a great show, the Rider being better than the China Cat or Jam IMHO. Jerry belts the “Wish I was a Headlight” line and the final jam smokes. Give it a listen.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Sept. 1, 1979
Holleder Memorial Stadium

This is a GREAT version, 31+ minutes, Good Scarlet, Great Scarlet jam, long transition once Fire is announced and then a phenomenal Fire on the Mountain. A very cool rift in the second solo gets everybody on board and it soars from that moment on, Jerry fanning, Phil dropping major bombs. I clearly remember Jerry breaking a string at the end of his solo (he was wailing on his strings), then a short (about 2 minutes) keyboard / bass interlude, which is very cool and unique until Jerry / Steve Parrish replaces his string and Jerry comes back, jams a minute or so and then sings the last verse. They pick the energy back up and wail at the last solo, not really finishing on the Scarlet beat, but the drummers get the hint and it’s off to the Rhythm Devils. Great version, top 5 that I saw live (first time I have listened to it in 33-years) and remember that we felt cheated at the show, only 2 songs before the drums. but there was equipment and curfew issues. Give it a listen to this unique version, obviously underrated with only 5 votes.

Roosevelt Stadium

You should post this in the stand alone Scarlet Begonias, great version eitherway.
Franklin's Tower
Oct. 28, 1979
Cape Cod Coliseum

Not as spectacular as the previous night, but a good version from a GREAT tour. At 18 minutes, it is a long version and with the monster the night before we had 35 + minutes of Franklin’s in a 24-hour period, no one was complaining about a repeat at this show.
