A Horrible year with very bad music. But this song is flawless and perfect.

Ship of Fools
Feb. 28, 1981
Uptown Theater

Subtle, sublime, and filled with soul. Powerful, loud and strong at the right moments, and quiet like a leaf falling in the moments inbetween.

Wharf Rat

Merriweather Post Pavilion

This is an amazing version for Phil Lovers. Grab the audience tape, turn it up, and be destroyed by massive Phil Bombs.

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
April 13, 1984
Hampton Coliseum

Hypnotic groove that will push you higher and higher. Fire. Fire. Fire on the mountain. An ancient rhythm emerges which hearkens to ancient times

I don't like 1993 Grateful Dead. I saw this and thought it would be terrible. But honestly, it sounds good. Its a good version...they sound pretty good. I still don't like 1993 Grateful Dead, but this isn't so bad.

Normally skip this song. But this one is good, and Jerry has a great tone for this show.
Black Peter
Sept. 25, 1981
Stabler Arena

I'm in a place where I really prefer the post-coma 1986-1991 Black Peter's. But this one jumped out at me. Get the aud or a matrix. This is a really good one.
Stagger Lee

Deer Creek Music Center

Never really cared for the later versions. But this one seriously cooks on all cylinders. All the cooks in the kitchen make this story roar off the stage. Listen!
Althea
Dec. 14, 1980
Long Beach Arena

At first it sounded like an average 1980's version, but Jerry gets inspired on the last solo and raises the energy notch. Good stuff.
