Painfully overrated. Just from May '77, 5/11, 5/17, 5/21, and 5/25. I woukd even give the shortened 5/13 the nod. I'll bet 50% of the people who voted for Cornell here haven't heard the rest of May nearly as much. This one is no slouch, don't mistake me, but they continued to perfect it. Mere exposure effect in full swing.

This version is #1 because there is only one version from the Brent era that Brent era fans find to be fantastic. So all of the Brent votes went to this one particular version. Meanwhile, over a 1000 votes were divided up among several 70s versions that were all fantastic. It's really that simple. For my part, I shake my head in awe that anyone can listen to 3/29/90 and think it's even close to the best the Dead can do. Brent ruins every song he opens his mouth on, including this. 70s snob? Not really, I just know good music when I hear it.
