This is The Dead at peak performance level. Cataclysmic version. Everyone is ON. Explorative and not a beat missed. Easily top 5 of 69.

Nice early electric version. Always preferred this key for Dire Wolf compared to when they changed it in the later years. Just right. Nice version.

Takes you right to Chicago. Jerry’s playing emulates the blues greats. Hard rocking version that reminds me of a Junior Wells cut. Highly recommend.

Haunting organ playing. Crystalline and psychedelic early version that feels very spacey. Great vocal delivery.

Hypersonic electric jugband blues jamming times a thousand. Billy right on top of the beat pushing the band to its limits, and Phil’s really shows his metaphorical upright bass chops here, playing a thumping rhythm that’s truly infectious. Jerry is cutting some grass showing his acid infused banjo bluegrass lines that cascade so thoroughly and clearly, that it really makes you jump out of your chair and have your jaw dropped for a good 5 or so minutes. June 74 is one of those rare months in Grateful Dead history that shines through in the over 2000 shows they’ve played. Another massive peak in their mountain range of shows throughout the year. I wish there was a seastones submission, because this would be near the top.

Really fun version, very loose and squiggly that even has Bobby chuckling during the middle of one of his verses. This was like riding on a cloud going multiple different directions at once. Somewhere between the state of solid and liquid.

One of the most intense of the tour, Jerry uses his feedback to create this cosmic haunting wailing that reaches to the absolute edge of our universe. Ultraviolet high octane magic carpet ride that takes you through really esoteric landscapes. Stunning version.

Jerry’s phrasing is really putting a smile on my face this morning. He sidewinds through multiple different melodies during his solo’s that keep me utterly engaged. When Tennessee Jed is good, it’s GOOD. Great Europe 72 mojo.

Great version. My favorites of the tour are 5/25/72, and 4/24/72 coming seamlessly out of Dark Star. The music comes alive here and possesses the band and shows the audience the power and beauty of how this beautiful tune can sound especially such a treacherous journey through The Other One. The performance before this was the life of August West, and here you hear him reflect on it. The way the band is able to create their own stories, is unlike any other.
