Not Fade Away

Folsom Field

There will be no more songs...only Jam.

Terrapin Station

Compton Terrace Amphitheatre

No skid on this ride. Seamless and sync'd, a (rare) flawless vocal from Jerry, and who else but Brent to take us to space.

Tennessee Jed
May 14, 1980
Nassau Coliseum

Typical sloppy '80 Jed, until Jerry starts inventing scales. It's like he finds a wormhole to a parralel notational grid.

Wharf Rat

Greensboro Coliseum

How dare Jerry defile the dissociative sanctity of the Wharf with such a filthy rip

Mexicali Blues

Single AUD source roughly patched and INC, but sure glad they caught Jer's solo here. Awesome show and it doesn't sound too bad considering..

The Other One
Dec. 26, 1979
Oakland Auditorium

Jerry seemed to be having trouble with lyrics all night, so I think they were leaning into extended solos and jams, and they really went off the deep end in here.
Big River
Dec. 26, 1979
Oakland Auditorium

Real competitive vibe on this. Jerry thought he took the bag with his first solo...only to be matched by Bobby's growl...Brent's squeaky clean rip, AND Mickey designing some new beats on the fly. On the tape you can hear a bit of a conversation at the end...can't make it out but I'm sure it's Jerry saying Holy Shit
They Love Each Other
Feb. 22, 1974
Winterland Arena

First show of '74 after the best shows of their career in late '73. The rust of a few weeks off was evident early on...with everyone struggling to find their footing and butting heads a bit. When they kick this off, you can hear Billy really dig into the Hi-Hat and pick up the pace a notch or two. The rest of the boys seem to rally behind the beat and wake up a bit. The rest of the show is on fire, and this is really the turning point.
Sugar Magnolia
Dec. 6, 1973
Public Hall

I honestly tend to skip the Sugar Mag encores for a lot of shows...but damn I'm glad I stuck it out tonight. absolutely nasty solo from Jer Bear.
Here Comes Sunshine
Dec. 6, 1973
Public Hall

The recently released 'Here Comes Sunshine' box set highlighting Spring '73 brings this underrated tune into the spotlight...but it was a little sloppy until the Fall/Winter, and on this night they really executed perfection.
