Not Fade Away
March 12, 1981
Boston Garden

Ace has been conducting an improv symposium this whole night. Basically a proto-Wolf Bros show

Rolfe AUD tape, someone's son is screaming for this tune through a good part of Set 1. Are you happy now?

Drums -> Space

The Sportatorium

I usually do not care about Drums>Space...it's my time to have a cigarette and a wizz, in concert OR at home. But this rips.

Saint of Circumstance

Radio City Music Hall

Wheel > Saint > Peter. Who had that on their bingo blotters? Doubt all were on the same page here...Bobby puts in the extra effort to justify the call

Estimated Prophet
Oct. 26, 1980
Radio City Music Hall

Between equipment troubles, tempo disagreements, and a false start...this Prophet was fated to release itself in a deformed, chaotic expression.

Playin' In The Band

Boston Garden

This right here is a Bob Weir owned and operated unit. Ace is taking lead tonight.

This show comes on like a perfect nod..after a couple fast hard nights at MSG, we're staggering and swaggering into Boston. Nothing too abrasive, but before you know it your face is on the floor.

Gearing up for MSG? Coming out swinging after a bit of a clunky one the previous night. Also, the Mason Taylor aud isn't in too bad of shape. Seems like Mason is finding his groove this tour after some tougher recordings in previous runs.

I thought this was the ghost of Donna...instead I have an entire new strain of music to dig into

Wowza...I'm not a huge fan of this tune, and usually groan when I see it ahead on a show...but I think it really clicked for me with how smooth they roll in and out of it here. From Prophet-onwards, a full disc worth of Slayer.
