From Cincinnati `76 & also apparently on of the rare times this rocker was used to close a set! Also the pick of the day for 11~9~23 Dead days

Jerryz intro is extra sweet on this version and he's on point throughout. A fine pre coma Jerry while Bobby is off at times lyrically. Still Heady!

A particularly nice early years Brent version from winter 1979 tour. Jerry's guitar gently weeps wonderfully throughout. Latest pick from Dave~47

Keith and Jerry are battling out a dual from the get go on this sick version of an always well and often played song. (Minus a forgotten Bobby lyric here on this one) I’ve gotta hand the winners take to Keith though as he musically manifested the rolling “die is shaking, now the die must fall” dice on his keys. Jerry is absolutely on fire for the solo but Kieth once again steals the song with his rolling keys while he musically mimes the lyrics as he “laid his body down” in that shallow grave. An awesome arraignment in accompaniment to the lyrics. Oh yeah! Not to mention it’s a Funkytown Phil show, in Philly no less. Dick’s #31, a good one!

It’s all about Keith’s keys and his musical manifestation of the whizzing “bullet that will find me” because usually I hit skip on this song. Gotta say though, the whole album is a worthy pick up. Two great back to back complete shows that are Dick’s #33. Fun fact! The Dead got to play outdoors at Oakland Coliseum in October for the first time in five years since the Athletics baseball team though close in standings, had failed to make the post season in 1976.

To me it’s all about Keith’s keys intertwined with the guitars and Donna’s delightful delivery during the song’s chorus refrain, the song title. To which there is a fun fact that Rob Hunter wrote the song lyrics while partying and jamming with the Dead and other musicians a few years back on that Canadian tour Festival Express train! Oh yeah! Jerry’s fresh and fantastic too.

Absolutely agreed! Though so glad to see this version now up on the wall of fame. I was lucky enough to snag it off of iTunes, where they still sell the album and others from the collection in their store. Volume 7 of the GD Download series.
