RAGING. 'nuff said. Goes into 'Drums', then 'Alligator', and can be found on 'Dick's Picks Vol. 22'.

C'mon, this is SURELY the definitive version?! Pigpen is so strong yet so poignantly vulnerable in this cut, with perfect fills from Jerry and Bill.

Intense stuff; brisk but heartfelt. Real acid rock. The venue people cut off the power at the end, but 'til then, it's still 7 great minutes.

Turn On Your Love Light

Avalon Ballroom

I know Deadheads try to prove themselves by choosing more obscure versions, but the 'Live/Dead' version is EASILY in the Top 5 'Love Lights' ever.

Hahahaha @ the comment above. Nearly had me for a minute there. But that solo is truly blistering.
Eyes Of The World

Civic Center

An absolutely stunning version. The ethereal keyboards make it for me, though Bob and Jer are pretty driven throughout. It never lets up, but it still sounds relaxed, nostalgic, yearning -- it sacrifices the dreaminess of Branford for cold blue steel and sweet fire.

Fox Theatre

Great organ work, spirited vocals (including backing vocals), lively rhythm section and an increasingly incandescent guitar. Love Bob's mad shrieking near the end. A great 8-minute version that ends perfectly.
Franklin's Tower
Nov. 5, 1979
The Spectrum

Brent's jam near the end is pretty sweet, and generally this version has swing and spirit
Cumberland Blues
Sept. 21, 1972
The Spectrum

This is liquid fire. Note-perfect, but sacrificing none of the heat.
