Visions of Johanna
March 19, 1986
Hampton Coliseum
Overshadowed by the following night's Box, this could have been the tune of the run. Poetic, powerful and drippy.

Looks Like Rain
May 15, 1983
Greek Theatre - University of California
Jerry splits the sky during the final jam that goes on and on. Greek Epic!

The Eleven
Nov. 2, 1969
Family Dog at the Great Highway
Phil is very strong here. Perhaps it is the recording but you can really feel the bass, especially as the song begins to taper into a devilish Death Don't. Perfect manic placement in that one hour of bliss that began with Dark Star. Essential.
Aiko Aiko
June 24, 1985
River Bend Music Center
A go-to version for sure. The Bob verse is great and the pre-Aiko tuning lets it be known that we are in for a fun ride.
Candyman
Nov. 24, 1978
Capitol Theatre
Another example of Jerry making up for a shot voice with scintillating guitar. I love this version.
Crazy Fingers
June 3, 1976
Paramount Theatre
This is THE ONE! It reads like a Shakespearean Drama on stage. The most floaty, dreamy operatic (if that is a word) rendition that rings true to my ears. Love this!
Feel Like A Stranger

Madison Square Garden
