Far From Me
May 15, 1980
Great version of a truly boss song. I have always loved Far From Me. It reminds me so much of The Beach Boys 1972-1973, the "Carl and The Passions" / "Holland" period. Good on you, Brent.
Aug. 13, 1975
Great American Music Hall
Oooh, yeah. I totally dig that tambourine from the start of the song through the first verse/chorus/short break. Makes me imagine that Pigpen is somewhere on stage with them.
Let It Rock
June 23, 1974
Lordy, this is so good. The one and only time this Chuck Berry nugget was played by our boys, even though it was staple for JGB. If you're gonna do something only once, do it well. Very well, indeed!
Me and Bobby McGee
July 19, 1974
"...somewhere near Salinas." Maybe playing this number over the Coast Ranges in Fresno, in the good, old, steadfast California Central Valley, makes this version just *that* much better. I adore this one.
I Hear A Voice Calling
May 15, 1970
Fillmore East (Late Show)
Oh, so sweet and beautiful. Some real lovely old-time religion in the "gather 'round the campfire" style. Glorious harmonies. I absolutely LOVE it when Bobby asks, "What's the next verse?", and Jerry leads the way.
