Jack Straw
Nov. 10, 1973
Winterland Arena
As far as these pre-August 74 versions go, pretty darn good; certainly far better than Veneta

Not the all-time best but surely deserves to be on the list

They Love Each Other
May 14, 1978
Providence Civic Center
I love the vibe of this set, in a groove and kind of mellow with good, loud Garcia
Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
May 14, 1978
Providence Civic Center
Really as good as anything. Maybe not as many fireworks as some of the top rated versions, but wonderfully played
Cassidy
May 14, 1978
Providence Civic Center
For the earlier versions that are still a little shortish, it doesn't get much better than this. Garcia is really loud in the mix, and his playing here is gorgeous....and there is a fairly substantial jam with a vicious peak (just not as extensive as some of the 80s versions)
Big Railroad Blues
Oct. 18, 1972
Fox Theater
I'm not sure why this doesn't have more votes...it's at LEAST the best of the year, in any case
Weather Report Suite
Nov. 20, 1973
Denver Coliseum
Absolutely one of the most amazingly gorgeous renditions of this they ever did; 12 votes is a joke (in your town)
