Friend of the Devil

Uptown Theatre

Underrated show here, apparently. This is a good version from an excellent show.

Me and My Uncle

Providence Civic Center

Starting to be a little disco-inflected, but none the worse for it; Garcia is firing away...

Really solid version; about as good as it gets

Not Fade Away

Hartford Civic Center

Rather surprising this hasn't been submitted, this show seeks a bit underrated in general. Garcia gets majorly vicious here.

Wharf Rat
May 10, 1978
Veterans' Memorial Coliseum

Brilliant comment by poundyjoe, I can really hear it that way
The Other One
May 10, 1978
Veterans' Memorial Coliseum

Wonderfully loose and degenerate lead-in, then blammo
Big River
May 10, 1978
Veterans' Memorial Coliseum

I really think this one’s up there for the era; why no love?
Cassidy
May 10, 1978
Veterans' Memorial Coliseum

Not the best era for Cassidy, simply because it expanded later, but still a great era for Cassidy because of how well they played it…..there are a handful from early 78 without end vocals, I don’t think they forgot— this is how they were doing it for a minute
Estimated Prophet
May 10, 1978
Veterans' Memorial Coliseum

I have to agree that the “middle solo” is outstanding, but don’t sleep on the “end jam” either
