Several relentless guitar passages throughout.

Hard to believe this is an AUD. 8:00-8:40 is a good example - crystal clear and tight.

Not too fast and not too slow with some nice double time at the end.

Jerry has laryngitis, so only Bobby tunes set 2 this day, and Keith Godchaux takes over the 2nd half of this PITB, especially the last 5 minutes.

This is an eleven minute Deal with a bunch of ebbs, flows and peaks.

Eyes Of The World

Evans Field House, Northern Illinois University

I suppose that we have Grendel to thank in part for this release. I just listened to this Eyes while I navigated the subway this morning and I was filled mixtures of joy and then later fiery emotion during the shredding that goes on during the second solo break. This one is unique, bridging the gap between the 77 and 78 aesthetics. Garcia’s playing is controlled but he is shredding so hard that it almost gets away from him at times.

You have to watch the video to watch Jerry quiet everyone down for the last verse of the solo. That’s what makes this version. As bzfgt says, 4 days before #1.

The black and white video takes an already great version to another level. I prefer the videos in which you can see them play to those with geometric shapes and general trippiness and this one is just a video a great band

I second that emotion, Ben.

Spectacular. I was watching the show on YouTube and the second break hit and I came here to see what kind of love this version had gotten. I’m glad to see that it is already well received; it deserves it. Some nice double time at the end too.
