The Music Never Stopped
April 14, 1978
Cassell Coliseum - Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University

Bob blows some lyrics, but the midsection and outro are fluent and soaring. Lot on the list not as good as this one.

Honorable mention on the old dead clubhouse page, but not on here. There's a youtube video with great sound. See for yourself.

Cassidy

Melkweg

A unique sounding Cassidy. Parts of this almost sound like a studio release of a different band playing like the dead.

MSG Scarlet Fire from the Fall of '82 - great transition.

The Music Never Stopped

Golden Hall, Community Concourse

Spectacular mid section and a decent outro. This one deserves votes. Edit: I've rediscovered this one a couple of months later and I think it belongs somewhere around #5 on the list, give or take a few. It's way better than 4 votes. The linked source is not the best of the three.

I missed the one I wanted by a year.

Awesome playing pre and post rio grandeo. Jerry does sound like a dying frog, but he tries to play his way around the laryngitis.

This is from the heyday of the song and this reading is really strong. But the quality of the SBD makes this version absolutely stand out.The midsection is great: rapid at first and then melodic and kind of cosmic before the segue and the outro is perfectly fine. I would put this one in the top 10.

Great mid section.
