Better Jerry solo than the other '77s, but same aesthetic otherwise.

Not too speedy, well jammed and ends with a one of kind improv between Bobby, Brent and the drummers.

The solos in Lady with a Fan are fucking beautiful.

The Music Never Stopped
Dec. 17, 1978
Fox Theatre

Delicate, sweet playing in the midsection and a good outro. The linked source is not great, but there is a SBD.

Thunderous climax. The last two minutes of the song are tight.

Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
June 27, 1976
Auditorium Theatre

Tremendous. There are some greats in June '76 and this one deserves a place in that conversation. I listened to Usborne's matrix which, as usual, sounded great. I'm feeling some 76 HSF right now darkstar - I'll check those three out.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower

Lloyd Noble Center - University of Oklahoma

I don't hear the tightness. Yes, it's a '77 HSF, so it's awesome, but during the segue from Help to Slipknot I always think, "That's why they stopped playing this." It's sloppy. But yeah, ok. That section requires synchronicity like some in St. Stephen - another one that would fall out for long periods of time.

Jerry goes back and forth between rapid sequences of notes and then what I would describe as unsatisfying fanning. It seems like he wants the band to play at a different tempo, tries to make it happen and never gets it where he wants. This happens in the intro and in the first two breaks. There is a long, spacey outro that I preferred to the entire song proper.

This is gorgeous, absolutely beautiful.

I like the post rio grandeo break (rolling, loping) better than the pre break (bendy, not sweet enough). Still, this one comes from the end of the half step golden era, so it probably beats out about 200 others.
