The Music Never Stopped
April 14, 1978
Cassell Coliseum - Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University

Bob blows some lyrics, but the midsection and outro are fluent and soaring. Lot on the list not as good as this one.

Honorable mention on the old dead clubhouse page, but not on here. There's a youtube video with great sound. See for yourself.

Cassidy
Oct. 16, 1981
Melkweg

A unique sounding Cassidy. Parts of this almost sound like a studio release of a different band playing like the dead.

MSG Scarlet Fire from the Fall of '82 - great transition.

Who doesn't love Bruce Hornsby? This version is clean and played with enthusiasm. This is the set 2 opener and there's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeqN1fRWjGA

I value your judgment. And I love the song too. I might make listening to the 77 half steps my next project - I know some, but not all - and I know that 10/7 is not on the archive. We'll have to talk.

Well, darkstar, I certainly hold your dead thoughts in high esteem. Indeed, you've shown me some half steps - most recently that 9/1/79 one. I'm surprised that you - and many others - don't like this version. To be honest, I hear 11/6 as a sloppier version than 11/5 and I hear a less faithful source. The guys who used to run the now defunct dead clubhouse site used to talk about the bias that comes with the first version that one gets into. 9/3/77 was the first one for me, but when I heard this one that changed. At any rate, to each his own, my friend.
