The Music Never Stopped
April 14, 1978
Cassell Coliseum - Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University

Bob blows some lyrics, but the midsection and outro are fluent and soaring. Lot on the list not as good as this one.

Excellent rendition with available A video and sound on youtube through music vault.

The Music Never Stopped

Radio City Music Hall

Honorable mention on the old dead clubhouse page, but not on here. There's a youtube video with great sound. See for yourself.

Cassidy
Oct. 16, 1981
Melkweg

A unique sounding Cassidy. Parts of this almost sound like a studio release of a different band playing like the dead.

Madison Square Garden

MSG Scarlet Fire from the Fall of '82 - great transition.

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Jan. 8, 1979
Madison Square Garden

I agree about Donna and the transition. But what stuck with me was the end of fire when I heard this earlier today. If you made it to the end of fire, you probably voted for this version.
Deal
May 1, 1981
Hampton Coliseum

I have not been able to put this one down for about two weeks now. Today I heard the SBD for the first time. It was fine, but I've been listening to Jim Wise's AUD up to this point and it sounds more like a matrix. The fact is that you gain nothing with the SBD - You can hear Jerry and Bobby just as well with the AUD - but with the SBD you lose the sound of the audience's reaction, which adds to the experience a couple of times in the 2nd solo.
Looks Like Rain
Sept. 3, 1977
Raceway Park

I hate this song - until I listen to it - and 8 times out of 10 I am blown away. This came up on shuffle today - I never would've cued it up on my own - and I had wallpaper and glue on my hands. I was forced to listen to a letter perfect version of this song. Bobby, Donna and Jerry all crush this version. And I wouldn't even have made this comment if I hadn't gone outside 5 minutes ago and literally encountered streetcats in the throes of love.
Lost Sailor -> Saint of Circumstance
May 13, 1981
Civic Center

I can see why the guys hoped sailor>saint would be popular - and why it never was outside of this little world. Nevertheless, these is some loloyodel video of this on YouTube and it's good enough for me.

Olympic Center

A solid version until Garcia hits a peak in the 2nd solo. The peak puts this into the top 10 - but not much higher.
