Feelin' Groovy Jam
Feb. 24, 1973
University of Iowa

This one emerges from a Phil solo. There are only two fragments of this show on the archive.

Brother Esau
June 23, 1984
City Island

Sometimes hard to tell one from another. But whatever. This one is good. It's from City Island, which should have been a cool spot to watch a show.

Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo

Hampton Coliseum

There is some magic post rio grandeo.

It's All Over Now Baby Blue
Aug. 14, 1981
Seattle Center Coliseum

Strike another match, go start anew: First one in 7 years. Sweet and slow, like the dozens to follow in the 80s and 90s.

Take A Step Back
July 12, 1987
Giants Stadium

The better one comes before Ramble on Rose (Just like NYC gets a roar.) This take a step back is by far the best ever because of the actual music. Listen to it. You'll agree that it's the best 5 seconds of step back ever.
Loser
July 12, 1987
Giants Stadium

It's the opener. Voodoonola put the show on YouTube. This one deserves a look.
Scarlet Begonias
May 23, 1982
Greek Theatre, U. Of California

It's the scarlet that makes this one - and the transition.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

This is awesome. The Scarlet solo and the transition are both great. There are better fires, but this one is serviceable. Let me put it this way: I'm serviced. This is the best version of a song I've learned about from this site. It's way better than 5 votes.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Nov. 1, 1979
Nassau Coliseum

I hadn't heard this until about 5 years ago. I don't think I will ever tire of this one the way I have with some others. (I'm looking at you May 21, 1977.) This epic version begins at a slow tempo - it's mellow, in fact. I love the first few notes of the scarlet solo - some beautiful notes way up the fret board. There's a lot going on in the transition - it's not sweet and beautiful like April 24, 1978, for instance. This one is dark, but colorful.
