Bird Song

Berkeley Community Theatre

A wonderful Jerry/Phil duet on this one. Not quite the legend of Veneta, but still very strong in its own right.

Excellent jams. Mix/sound is off, but this is still a must hear version!

Palace Theater

Very lyrical and melodic playing by Jerry. A pretty unique version, one of my favorites.

Bird Song

Awesome flowing buildups and peaks during the first jam especially. A bit under the radar, but definitely one of the best of 1972!!!

Caution

Parc des Expositions

Sweet fusion-style Caution jam with major hints of MLB. Builds to a fiery Garcia climax!!

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Feb. 3, 1979
Market Square Arena

A+ version right here. Like grendel says, the bridge jamming is insanely hot. The transition is nice and smooth, and then we get a raging Fire with Jerry just ripping the jam with tidal waves of notes. Awesome!
The Music Never Stopped

Uptown Theater

Epic!!!
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Feb. 5, 1978
Uni Dome, U of Northern Iowa

Sure hope dannyc is being sarcastic. This is one of the very best ever, though I think 4/24/78 and 9/2/78 are a little hotter.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Sept. 2, 1978
Giants Stadium

This version without a doubt has the all-time best transition between the two songs; the jamming is just totally otherworldly. MAJOR x-factor on this one, and I can definitely hear why it's Dick's favorite.
Let It Grow
March 25, 1983
Compton Terrace Amphitheatre

Whoa. What this version lacks in precision it more that makes up for in apocalyptic shredding...between about the 6-8 min. mark is maybe some of the most insane jamming I've ever heard from this band. Words fail.
