He's Gone
Dec. 28, 1990
Coliseum Arena

My favorite live version. The chorus goes fully a capella. Then there's the post-song jam. Wow!

Throwing Stones
Oct. 11, 1983
Madison Square Garden

Overlooked? Definitely. The 2-minute middle jam is really super. Garcia really works the scales and fan licks on this one.

Victim Or The Crime
Dec. 8, 1990
Compton Terrace Amphitheatre

Great drum intro leads to a strong Victim and a well-woven segue to Foolish.

Sugar Magnolia
Dec. 30, 1990
Coliseum Arena

Phil insists on Sugar Mag through the last 2-3 minutes of Terrapin, and it smokes

Let It Grow
July 1, 1985
Merriweather Post Pavilion

Big power here. Over and over and over again.

Saint of Circumstance
Dec. 30, 1991
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum

Yup, was there and still waiting for it to turn into Dear Prudence instead of Drumz.
Victim Or The Crime
June 19, 1991
Pine Knob

Total shame that this was omitted from Download Series Vol. 11. This is the definitive version. Every lick was perfectly placed and the tension built continuously throughout. As the song began to fade, Mickey worked The Beam more and more until he was kicking it, bashing it, and nearly jumping up and down on it. Jerry had to start Scarlet before things got completely out of hand.
Playin' In The Band
June 9, 1991
Buckeye Lake Music Center

Big power from the start, this one is super tight and never lets up.
Throwing Stones
June 20, 1991
Pine Knob Music Theatre

The transition from Throwing Stones into Iko Iko was immaculate.
Jack Straw
Dec. 28, 1991
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Stadium

I've listened to a lot of Jack Straws, but I still favor this one. Phil's sound was just so perfect for the entire show and the Jack Straw really benefitted.
