Dancin' in the Streets

I’m conflicted on this one. I have always found parts of this cringe inducing, especially the opening and closing “dancin, dancin’ in the streets” vocals. To my ears it sounds like weak disco. BUT, even during that, there is a nice, funky underpinning, and it fully bursts into a glorious groove I really enjoy.

They are clearly at the height of their powers, but I keep giving it another listen, and not getting much, until the MLB outro. Maybe too jumpy, maybe lacking warmth. From the same time frame, I am drawn to 8/27, 9/16 and 9/27 far more often. To each their own- so much to enjoy!
