Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Dec. 31, 1984
SF Civic

Scarlet Fire usually has a rather similar feel to it. This one definitely has a darker heavier tone to it. I believe the Op has probably hit on the reason for this heaviness. I recommend this version, in fact im gonna give it a spin now its been a little time since i have listened to it.

Throwing Stones
Nov. 1, 1990
Wembley Arena

transitions nicely into NFA. Phil is really driving the end of this evening. Loads of Bass. Passionate Bobby vocals and shredding Garcia guitar, this deserves to be way higher up the list, a truly great version, please give it a listen.
Uncle John's Band
May 15, 1977
St. Louis Arena

The definitive Uncle Johns Band. Absolutely near perfection from all involved. Tight and brilliant like we have come to expect from May of 1977.
Wharf Rat
Nov. 1, 1990
Wembley Arena

Sounds like they are going into standing on the moon then just before the verse they switch into Wharf rat works cool as opposed to sounding like a disaster which it could have, really fun and interesting. Lots of those reverberating Wharf rat notes. Jerry's voice is a little rough but it adds a nice dimension to our tale of August West. This stuff is like a dream, miss you everyday Jerry. Lovely take with loads of Phil tight vocals, a little weathered sonding which works for Wharf Rat. A nice version early in the two keyboardist version of the band
