Lost Sailor -> Saint of Circumstance
Oct. 19, 1981
Sports Palace

This is such a nice show every song has that little extra and Phil is surely on Fire. The Sailor->Saint is very hot. The tension jam in saint builds well past the normal release point very cool.
Franklin's Tower

Show of the year, fantastic. Very hot ripping franklin's minor vocal hiccup which is more than made up for in the intense jamming.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Oct. 19, 1981
Sports Palace

This is truly magnificent despite a minor lyric flub the Scarlet is in cotention for all time best long with hot intense Jams, a very cool intro. The transition is long with soaring Jerry, pounding drums, and Phl. Bobby is a stand out on this version playing some real creative stuff throughout the Scarlet and the transition jam. The whole band cooks through a very jammed out though not overly long Fire. The fire is not long but all ican really say about it is wow Jerry and Phil combine for some sick jamming. Incredible. Top 5 or 10 all time. I wouldnt argue if someone said it was the best in their opinion. Sick crazy stuff. Wonderful

Very Phil heavy and what a fun way to start a show an Uncle John's Sandwich with playin in the middle. Absolutely a great show in Boulder this evening.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Feb. 22, 1993
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum

Unfortunately niether recording on archives is of the greatest quality, the mix of both audience and soundboard have the instruments particularly Bobby very high in the mix Vocals are a little low, Phil and jerry both at nice levels, the audience is actually better sounding though its not an A+ audience by any means. Performance is still very hot particularly the Scarlet, loaded with energy before it hits a cool mellow spacey jam that leads into the transition, and Jerry dips into his midi bag of tricks. Fite starts real nice and mellow with Jerry and Phil playing around with the beginning Vince adds some nice key runs before they really launch into it and the beat picks up to a typical reggae style for the Fire, Jerry is in good form singing and playing very well on this version. Vocals still not quite right on the recording a little tinny on the audience and low on the snbd. still a very hot version would love to hear a Charlie Miller of this show.
