I Need A Miracle
July 7, 1981
Kansas City Municipal Auditorium Arena

Jerry shreds the solo and bobby growls out the vocals. nice juxtaposition to the beautiful BP that preceded it.

Black Peter

Brents organ really makes this one sound like Grateful Dead church and the way Jerry is signing really makes him sound like he's mourning someone.

Looks Like Rain

this one really builds in intensity until it hts soaring heights. Truly a magnificent though very early 80's sounding version.

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
March 14, 1982
Recreation Hall - University of California

Short pairing but loaded with Brent and Jerry has tons of Wah going on particularly in Fire. Nice little Brent Phil during the transition. This is a very Rock-n-Roll pairing of the two, with Brent definitely being the star of the proceedings, with a nice assist from Jerry and the rest of the band. Brent throws in a nice funky synthesizer solo.
Standing On The Moon
Oct. 15, 1994
Madison Square Garden

I too saw my first show in 1989, JFK, the crimson white and indigo DVD/Cd (glad they issued my first show for me, lol), My favorite moment live may actually be the Fire from Memorial Coliseum in Seattle 5-26-1995, I saw many great moments but that one just stands out more than some more celebrated times. Few and far between over those last 2-4 years but there sure are moments that shine. JErry was just so alive, having fun and bending notes and creating on the fly like it were the good old days. Same with much of these MSG shows.
Victim Or The Crime
Oct. 15, 1994
Madison Square Garden

I hated Victim for about the first 20 years it existed than for some reason i began to love Victim, I now consider it one of my favorites and love a good Victim->Foolish Heart combo, or vice versa. I think it was the 7-19-1990 version that turned me around.
Standing On The Moon

There was definitely something in the water for that MSG run, really an enjoyable stand, many songs have that extra little something, for the record the 10-7-1994 show in Philly just days before this, has one of the worst second sets you will ever hear. Crazy how they just seemed to reawaken over the next week to 10 days.
Eyes Of The World
Oct. 16, 1974
Winterland Arena

This is a very Phil dominated set and it continues through this rather unique verry spacey and jazzy take on Eyes of the World. This is a special set from a special run, very creative and inventive, Phil is just on fire throughout. The space out of phil neds and the one out of Wharf Rat are both equally amazing and Phil driven like the jams in the Eyes especiallly from about 7 minutes on just fantastic stuff.
