Darkness Jam
March 26, 1973
Baltimore Civic Center

Call it a "near" Darkness Jam coming out of WX report prelude you'll hear a hint of the main theme about 1:12 in & the rest is just exquisite

Samson and Delilah
Nov. 29, 1979
Cleveland Public Hall

Ripping right out of a sensational (& underrated Shakedown) this equally shines w/fast flowing Garcia licks typical for the year & Brent on fire too

Me and My Uncle
May 2, 1970
Harpur College

Maybe b/c it's w/New Riders but one of the best acosutic versions ever should be here! Riders w/great backing vox + Jerry on pedal steel!

Bertha
Nov. 20, 1971
Pauley Pavilion

The new DaP release showcases how good this, especially w/Keith way up front in the mix & kicking the tune into ragtime jazz gear-a fantastic version!

Don't Ease Me In
Dec. 9, 1979
Kiel Auditorium

Don't sleep on this one. Brent's sweeping fluorishes permeate + a nice epic coda. Overlooked tune from a sleeper show now w/more looks due to DaP#47

Not Fade Away
Oct. 18, 1983
Cumberland County Civic Center

Finding this version is like snagging a great player who got passed over by every other team in the draft. Be the scout who discovered it
Dark Star
Jan. 10, 1979
Nassau Coliseum

Classic example of a version that would be miles higher on the board if a stellar SBD existed. The AUDs available are good enuff tho' that this should still garner more votes. Whole show is a barn burner--and as I've mentioned before contains one of the greatest Shakedowns of all time. This DS is also a gem

^^^^Right back atcha OrangeTango--I often stop and check out reviews w/your tag on 'em and am never disappointed. Nice too to see that a lot of long timers here still weigh in on occasion and keep finding diamonds in the rough -as you alluded to - to keep the conversation and love of the music alive

Paramount Theatre

Both jam breaks in this excellent version are gems

Totally agree-a musical sea and soundscape that reaches far and wide. Do wish there were better existing recordings of this show but it's worth listening through it to get to the richness of the music itself. Lotta good Stars to come this year obviously--this one sounds a little like a preview of one of my faves from 10/25/69
