Equal parts journey and freakout

I seldom get this excited about Scarlets, but this one is an absolute banger. At its briskest it's storming Disco Dead, which you might expect of a '78 Scarlet that transitions into Dancing--but here's the incredible thing, the transition itself grooves in an understated, contemplative way. 78 was a great year for Donna, and she and Bob really shine here.

Holy crap. Early '78 is really slept on in general but this has to be the most searing LIG that comes to mind. This has to be some of the most vicious Keith playing post-hiatus, and Jerry is shredding like his life depended on it. Hilariously, I thought from the beginning it would be a more nonchalant take. Boy was I wrong.

Wild to hear such a Keith dominated PITB in '78

This is a fun one from a strange run of sizzling, longer PITBs from early '78. Everyone seems to get a turn in this one--I basically would consider the drums/space segment to be a continuation where Phil and the drummers get to have their fun rather than separate tunes in themselves. That it all winds up at a chugging St. Stephen is a cherry on top

Vocally, Jerry sounds haggard as hell at certain points. Even Bob sounds bad on backups. However, Brent and Jerry are really locked into each other tonight and that takes this one way over the top. Brent's Casio tones sound downright majestic as he and Jerry crest toward the coda.
