Contemplative smooth vocal section, great filling. Morphing into a perfectly paced water-fall of fingerpicking energy.

Friend of the Devil
Nov. 6, 1977
Broome County Arena
Do they nail the vocals or what! So soulful, Jerry's voice is absolutely perfect in this. Each note has a powerful resonance, they play each break well, and there is no lagging. Excellent version.
Bertha
Dec. 29, 1977
Winterland Arena
This version is a fuckin' smoker. Definitely a highlight of a great show.

Smokin' version. Check out the disco beat they put on this Explosive Mexcali > M&MU
Sugaree
Sept. 2, 1980
Community War Memorial Auditorium
Jerry just falls into a perfect groove and keeps it going for a long time. The crowd goes nuts, and he just keeps fanning. Vocals are on point throughout, and the drummers keep up. Lesh and Weir are in stride, but Jerry keeps this up at a full sprint. Showering a beautiful array of licks, and solos. One of the best ever.
