Bird Song
Sept. 15, 1990
Madison Square Garden

Hornsby's first "Bird Song" as a member is nearly 15 minutes of bliss. Nice harmonies, too.

For 1995, surprisingly sharp.

Crazy Fingers

Madison Square Garden

The intro is a bit messy (what else is new), but Jerry's swift fills and impassioned vocals are the stars here.

Haunting like all of them. Jerry's solo starts a bit dull but he hits his stride pretty quickly.

MSG, Baby! Good start to the last show ever at the venue.

One More Saturday Night
May 7, 1972
Bickershaw Festival

Bobby saying "Here's Mr. Garcia" when Jerry takes his solo never fails to put a smile on his voice. Bobby was on this whole show. This song was NEVER the same once it left Europe. It almost immediately became a tossed off afterthought with little to no effort. I never, ever willingly listen to post-1972 versions. But in Europe, this song is as good a rock and roll rave up as any ever done. It's up there with "Shout" and "Gimme Some Lovin'" as one of the best party rockers of all time.

Not quite as focused as 3/27/94, but Jerry brings it at the end.
Crazy Fingers

Madison Square Garden

Jerry's solos are great here. Some really lovely runs.
The Other One
Dec. 30, 1989
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena

Seriously, this should not be languishing with one vote. This is a spectacularly dark, intense, driven version.

Vince really shone on "Bird Song" from 1993-95.
