Wow, surprised that this one is all the way down here. I've always had trouble keeping my attention during this song, but the opening jam shreds as good as anything from electric Bear's Choice in '70. And sure "The Other One" is not quite as epic this night, but Phil really gets a turn to shine here. Jerry let him have it. He preferred to stand in the sonic waves and watch the performance from a slight distance, it seems. Lots of crunchy bass picking and bombs though. And Jerry gets seriously scary around the 7 min mark. Anyway, getting off topic.

Considering that Dead Set also contains a perhaps the definitive early-80s version of "Feel Like a Stranger," and the best Brent-era "Friend of the Devil," it's not surprising to me that this wraps up the LP.

Dear God, they absolutely explode in this one. Hands down the best night for Uncle Sam. Bobby's slide work, and Jerry's potentially punk-inspired shredding (see the interview on youtube) are highlights, but the whole hand is definitely playing tonight. The whole show is obscenely good. I can't wait for the boxed set for the remastered reels, whenever it eventually gets released. Also funny when Phil changes up Bobby's "we're gonna take a short break" announcement. I get the impression that the boys were pissed at how they actually played in Egypt and decided to make up for it here. And did they ever. Keith is WIDE-awake.

The first of 585 performances. I guess they really liked playing the song. The very first One with alt. lyrics will rip your face off. Listen to Jer play some different chords and leads throughout. Might be the most unique version out there, and a refreshing listen.

Jerry just goes off here, peaking. A rare moment, similar to the "Close Encounters" solo out of "The Other One" 1/22/78. The studio-session quality "Wharf Rat" that follows really tops things off.
