Big, boomy, mountain-scary drums from one of the best shows in '84. Hair-raising.

Very tight, jammed-out version from my favorite '84 show.

Love the mellow opening. A great '85 show. Of course, everything at the Frost during and before '85 is a trip up the golden road to unlimited devotion. The tape linked to this entry is the best source available (unlike most times when the link here takes to to a crusty SBD or AUD).

It's all about the Mutron Octave Divider/Mutron III combination here. Garcia rips into it through out FOTM, blasting the crowd with low notes and intricate soloing. There are a lot of good Scarlet>Fires, but none compare to this.

After you get your fill of listening to Garcia and Weir's excellent guitar work on this song, not to mention Billy and Phil, focus your ears on Keith's piano. It's a whole other layer to the ride. It just sounds beautiful.

Also, this jam>Eyes transition is incredible. It's the Frost during the early 1980s—you can't go wrong!

Best version by far. No space alien MIDI to distract from the raw purity of Garcia's guitar. I usually like the MIDI layers, but for some tunes, it just didn't work. "Ramble on Rose" comes to mind. I love the Mutron, but hate those godawful horns in post-'90 versions.
