Big, boomy, mountain-scary drums from one of the best shows in '84. Hair-raising.

Very tight, jammed-out version from my favorite '84 show.

Jerry winds up and explodes during the "THOUGHT I HEARD A YOUNG MAN!" verse. Love '83 Dead. Check out the Scarlet>Fire from this show too.

Agreed! Also, Keith's solo is pure magic. He is awake and playing his ass off this evening. Love DP 10.

This performance is now a bonus track on the remastered American Beauty. This is an incredible song that I wish the Dead played more during their 1970-71 period. I love Phil's vocals here. He sounded great back in the early '70s.

I was locked into the Phil Zone throughout the entire Jam. 8-D
Mission in the Rain

Capitol Theatre

You can see a whole set of this show on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5pR1p35FyI This Mission is definitely the best out there. Jerry's voice is still a little raspy from his laryngitis back at the beginning of the year, but he puts so much emotion into his vocals (he also looks very stoned; Jerry complained that pot messed with his voice). John Kahn's bass playing is phenomenal. A quintessential show from '78 JGB.
