Jerry for sure was feeling it during the China>Rider transition. So hot it burns.

Might be my favourite studio song. They never did the song any justice live, but this version is really good.

The Other One

An epic voyage through space and time. Everyone knows this show for the soaring Bird Song but the He's gone > Truckin' > NFBM jam > Bass Solo > The Other One > Wharf Rat > Sugar Mag is the real meat of this show. The whole show is insane and deserves way more love.
Playin' In The Band

The jamming is so tight its ridiculouss. They go through several themes, including something that sounds eerily like a proto Fire on the Mountain. Phil was must have been tripping hard during the whole show. Definitely one of my favourite '73 Playing in the Band, and thats not little coming from a year like '73...

I don't know how I feel with this sitting at number 3, I think it should be higher but the first and second versions are heady too. If we only had a better recording of this version....

Sometimes the Dead would come up with these jams that sound so structered and composed it's hard to believe they only did them once (2-18-71 comes to mind). I've read somewhere on the web this jam named as "Almost-China Cat jam". Pretty accurate if you ask me. I'll start calling it that way. Definitely the highlight of the night and one of the best jams the band ever came up with, it's absolutely outrageous that this has so little up-votes.
