Knickerbocker Arena

Such a nice version, included on Dozin' at the Knick -- this is my "go-to" Masterpiece.

Listen to the Jerry backing vocals at 2:40! Great version.

Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues
Oct. 1, 1994
Boston Garden

I do enjoy other parts of this show, but I can't vote for this song. Jerry's solo in the middle is very sloppy/lazy and has that annoying "pinched" quality that is pervasive in 1994 and 1995.

I know there are those who refuse to listen to anything from '95, and that's not without good reason, but this is an absolute delight. The enthusiastic vocals and the way Jerry plays with the dynamics make this one of the better versions of this tune out there.

The Omni

This is a must-hear. Listen to what Jerry does with his voice at about the 6:45 mark. He switches to something like a desperate, high-pitched gasp. Unlike any vocal I've ever heard from him, and it's almost startling. Not everyone will like it, but it certainly gets your attention, and the song is well-played and emotionally resonant.

This one is played at the perfect tempo -- too often this song slogs along until Jerry goes off at the end. But this one is a full band effort, firing on all cylinders. And you have to love how the band builds behind the vocal refrain at the end. So many roads to HEAL my soul. This one is healing indeed.
