Jerry’s tone at this show makes this perhaps the heaviest version ever played!!!

Spirited MAMU > Big River! (Criminally underrated show)…

Transcendent version + with Jerr going full-on spacey! (Weird, like the whole show!)

Perfect encapsulation of this show: not a lot of highlights, but absolutely rippin’, at the same time.

Hard to Handle

The Miller mix is so much better than the “Ladies and Gents…” release, which is sadly sterile. Good one, though pretty chill vis-a-vis the rest of the HTH library.

The jam is all-time + the peak is legend, no doubt. They are firing, but it does take some time to get there, and Pig ain’t exactly *on*. Complicated stuff. Epic jam, but the hike to the peak is slippery. Best HTH jam, not the best if taken as a whole…

‘78 is, by far, the peak of the band, but this S>F has never hit for me. Perplexed. 4/24 + 1/31 are where. It’s. At.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

Horton Field House - Illinois State University

It’s an impossible task with this, the greatest song + combo ever written, in my incredibly Neolithic estimation. 4/23/77 + 5/13/77 + 4/20/84 are tremendous. I was recently reviewing Dick’s favs, and it’s remarkable how much we disagree, but that’s the beauty, ain’t it…?

Jerr is just mischievously on fire this show. One of the all-time fun shows!
