Powerful version from another under-appreciated spring ‘78 show.

RPI ‘78! The best show you’ve never heard!

Beat it on Down The Line
April 13, 1983
Patrick Gymnasium, U of Vermont

I pretty much never shit on much of anything, but the show is going well until they hit this “Beat It”. Awful version. Off-kilter + off-speed + the coca isn’t working. Good show to this point, too, and more goodness too come. If you think this is definitive, we should talk. Lotsa 70’s to discuss. Yikes!

Scorcher…! In the zone from the get-go.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

Top-5 pantheon version. Easy. After this, they mostly fall off until the fall and into ‘78, with the exception of 5/13.

Holy smokes…! Positively going HAM on these early versions (#6)!

The boppin’est version ever! For real! It bops + hops! Less epic than versions later on in the spring/summer, but different + that ain’t a bad thing. Hunter was tripping on stage, witnessing his + Jerr’s creation come to life. Can’t be beat from a historical standpoint.
