A Keith stunner! Laying it down on this swingin’ version to nearly close the show. Yowza!

Stagger Lee

Nashville Municipal Auditorium

This is the best Stagger ever. Lotsa great contenders, but Jerr’s tone is as powerful as it ever was on this night, and it peaks here. That venue must’ve had a lot of juice running through the system, cuz it’s on full display on this very special version. I don’t usually get too indignant about any version - to each their own - but there’s no damn way this isn’t the absolute top of the Stagger Lee mountain. Suffers from lack of fame + mainstream appeal.

Super kickin’ it. So chill > so dope > so Mu-Tron. Best of ‘77, which is 4th or 5th best all-time.

Pantheon version, along with Nashville (12/16/78, dig that legendary AUD), 11/24/78, 7/4/89, and 12/31/78.

Super chill + super dope start to a show that doesn’t get enough attention.
