Hofheinz Pavilion

A Homo erectus-like version but notable for Jerry's solo after the first Rio Grandee chorus.

Awesome early version. Jerry has a great solo at the end.

Jerry impassioned yet subdued singing in that ragged and worn voice is deeply affecting.

Jerry's voice and singing at this time fit this one perfectly.

This things just smokes. Also, Road Trips Vol. 2 No. 1 would probably have been helped by including some of the absolutely blistering first set performances that occurred during this incredible run at the MSG.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower

The only thing wrong with this version is that Jerry's voice (which is in fine form throughout this show) is initially distant sounding, a problem on both the board and AUD tapes I've heard (but don't let that deter you from listening, as some great stuff happens here). Road Trips Vol. 2 No. 1 would probably have been helped by including some of the absolutely blistering first set performances that occurred during this incredible run at the MSG.

Yup, this one gets stretched out and stuffed with some jam. Tasty stuff.

This one's got that Rastaman bounce and features great solos from both Brent and Garcia. While this show is not without some clunkers, it's still got some all-time gems, especially the 'Morning Dew' and the 'Cumberland Blues'; I have also always had a fondness for the Eyes from this one, too. I had previously posted the Estimated from this show but I later removed it, as it is good but maybe not 'Heady' good--I don't know, I gotta go back and listen. Check it out for yourself.

I agree--Brent's stuff is cool on this one and Jerry's singing and playing are both on fine display throughout this show, including on this number right here.
