Bird Song
Sept. 28, 1993
Boston Garden

Wooden and crunchy. Nice interplay between Jerry and Phil. Vince blows little zephyrs.

So much Dead to soothe my soul, and this is some of it. Tight.

Gaelic Park

When the going gets weird, Weir sings the headlight part.

Eyes Of The World
Oct. 11, 1977
Lloyd Noble Center - University of Oklahoma

This one doesn't have the shimmering lyricism of, say, 5/22/77, but the logic of Jerry's phrasing is a hoot.

The Other One
Aug. 20, 1972
San Jose Civic Auditorium

Needs to be on the map. Features a jam that seems to be based on Skydog's 'Little Martha' and a nice 'Tiger Jam', but that's not all...

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
July 21, 1974
Hollywood Bowl

The problems with this AUD are weak vocals and, as someone on the archive said, a bit 'splashy' with cymbal noise. Of course, many SBDs from this era have problems, as well. And there is the problem of WOS SBDs, in particular--a common complaint being that they sound too boxey and din't capture the Wall's rich sound. But AUDs sometimes could capture more of the Wall's 'natural' sound and this is maybe the best Wall AUD I've ever heard (despite the problems that I mentioned). The guitars sound great, Phil's lower ends are warmer and deeper than many boards from this era and Keith is well-captured and clearly audible. Of interest, Dick Latvala said that this show isn't in the vault (as of 1998), so this is the best sounding version out there. Don't wait, snag this AUD in lossless.

The Omni

Great version. What is the version of this show to get to store in my own vault?
Uncle John's Band
June 8, 1980
Folsom Field, University of Colorado

Although I am not enamored with the AUD, this is a great version. I am surprised that it is not regarded/known more.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
April 6, 1984
Aladdin Theater

Also, check out the transition from Space to Eyes in this show--very cool. The Eyes also has Bobby (I think--gotta check again) doing some weird things during the verses. Unfortunately, I wouldn't necessarily call the rest of the tune (solos, etc.) 'heady'.
Greatest Story Ever Told
Sept. 28, 1972
Stanley Theatre

This one's a lot of fun and, while the St. Stephen quotes are super, they aren't the only thing good about this one.
