China Cat Sunflower
Jan. 2, 1972
Winterland Arena

A curious Cat peekin' through some Good Lovin'. Not an epic CCS per se, but the transitions in 'n out are as smooth as a Michael Jordan layup. Unique.

We can only wonder...

Doin' That Rag
March 1, 1969
Fillmore West

Not too much Tiny Tim and Jerry's solo blooms nicely.

Black Peter
Aug. 12, 1972
Sacramento Memorial Auditorium

A slightly brisk and jaunty version that is smack-dab in the middle of a TOO. More bluesy rock than ponderous and Faulknerian (?).

China Cat Sunflower

Carousel Ballroom

Jerry's early tone is sweetly acerbic, and pleases like the burn from a swig of crisp Coke on a hot day. Seamless transition into 'The Eleven'.

Providence Civic Center

Unique and essential on the merits of the extended intro.

Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Great version, for sure.
Eyes Of The World

Providence Civic Center

I voted for this one because of the outro portion(s)--I love what Phil does here. Spring/Summer '74 Eyes really seem to showcase Phil.
Eyes Of The World
April 2, 1973
Boston Garden

Jerry's solo after the first verse is silky smooth and sweet. Nearing the end of the 'Stronger than Dirt' sequence (with just over two minutes left in the tune) Jerry has a beautiful burst of inspiration. It is well worth the sixteen minutes to check this one out. Incidentally, I believe this is the last show from their legendary Winter/Spring '73 tour and, as another reviewer on these pages states, their first at Boston Garden.

Alpine Valley Music Theatre

Great playing on this one--gets a little of that gooey '89/'90 thing going. Check it out!!!
