Big River

Feyline Field

Raw and raucous, this one packs quite a wallop for its size.

Eyes Of The World

Assembly Hall, University Of Illinois

A mellow version featuring a rather unique outro portion for ’73. Truckin’>Eyes>Stella

New Minglewood Blues

Hartford Civic Center

One of those ‘I can’t believe it’s not here yet’s. This thing was forged from hot iron.

Morning Dew

Springfield Civic Center

The satisfying conclusion of a good sequence. A sibling of 11/13/72.

Bobby is pretty good on this one. It's right after 'Promised Land'.

Playin' In The Band
Dec. 2, 1973
Music Hall

More varied than either 8/27 or 11/18 (but maybe lacking the intensity of those two), as it unfolds in several distinct 'movements', including an 'MLB', before going into 'He's Gone'. The 'MLB' is, I think, the full thing. I prefer a partial treatment, as the 'MLB' can sound hokey and dated in parts (but, of course, transcendental and brilliant in others).
Eyes Of The World
Oct. 29, 1977
Evans Field House, Northern Illinois University

Great stuff here. The band is just locked in and Garcia is particularly inspired and profusive.
The Other One
Nov. 22, 1972
Austin Municipal Auditorium

The group is tight on this one: Bobby has a nice little showcase that reminds me of 'Extrapolation'-era John McLaughlin and Billy is particularly tight yet supple. Great stuff!!!
Estimated Prophet
July 8, 1978
Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Maybe the best part of a great sequence (Estimated Prophet ->The Other One -> Eyes Of The World ->Drums ->Space -> Wharf Rat ->Franklin's Tower ->Sugar Magnolia. Incidentally, I wonder if that Weir quote is in reference to Bear moving way down south.
Dark Star
Dec. 15, 1972
Long Beach Arena

Not the best but heady nonetheless. Great segue from Truckin'.
