Touch of Grey

Why we love this band. Every little new nuance in each version. Love the way Garcia sings, "Oh well the Touch of Grey.." and the way he pronounces it.

Trippy underwater solo like the 2/24/73 version. Only a couple months away and the resurrection of this tune starting up.

About as fine as a version you'll get. This one is absolutely soaring. 3/20/77 second solo like. I mean just listen. It's inspired big time!

Good Lovin'

Ripping version as are most from 70. First half of the tune is the Mickey and Billy Show. Second half is all screaming Garcia leads... Smokes!

Garcia piping in after "they all play on the penny whistle" line with "You can hear them blow!" is a spine tingler moment.

There definitely is something catchy about this version or otherwise it wouldn't be talked about so much. It certainly is pretty and the transition is real nice. Definitely not my favorite, there are other versions to be reckoned with, but still, nonetheless, it's a very nice piece of music in it's own right. I dig it!

The way I see it is 77 seems rehearsed and 78 is no holds barred. they hold back a bit in '77 and let it hang loose in '78. Could very well be more drugs...

Yeah I think they hit "11" on this one.
